in Oman

Our production coordinator in Oman can recommend some incredible beaches here, i.e., Ras Madrakah, where crabs run over the white sand. There are also quaint villages that take you back to a simpler time, where our journalist fixer can arrange some interviews to uncover the local customs.

Likewise, souks are sprawling marketplaces that you can find throughout Oman. They are cultural and community gathering hubs, selling everything from crafts to food. Many are prominent for their ancient architecture. Some are even women only.

Muscat

Muscat is made up of three smaller towns that our location scout can show you. The first one is the ‘walled city’, the site of the royal palaces. Originally a fishing village, Muttrah is home to one of the oldest, traditional Souq, with labyrinth spice-scented alleys. Our production coordinator in Oman says it feels exactly like stepping into one of the markets from the Arabian Nights stories. The last one is Ruwi – generally considered the city’s commercial center.

Ad Dakhiliyah

Misfat al Abreyeen in Al Hamra is one of the few mountain villages that you can reach through a paved road. As per our production coordinator in Oman, this village is very distinctive with its reddish color, the result of the mud architecture used to construct its old houses. Here, you can watch how people grow their own food and carry water to their houses. Also you can see green palm fields when you look down.

Wadi Dam in Ibri offers pools with crystal clear water and beautiful rock formations. Filming there, our journalist fixer saw some locals slaughtering goats and preparing food. They are dying to introduce our customers to them for an interview on their traditions.

At the Archaeological Sites of Bat, Al-Khutm and Al-Ayn in Maqabil, you can see unique tombs shaped like beehives. Imagine shooting it against the backdrop of the mountains, with the sunset glow and call of the muezzin.

Al Batinah South

Our location scout can show you around the governorate which extends between the Sea of Oman and the foothills of the Western Hajar Mountains. Al Batinah South is considered the green belt of Oman, providing most of the country’s fresh produce.

Nakhal Fort dates to the pre-Islamic period. It houses a museum with historic gun exhibits and hosts a weekly goat market. There are several rooms furnished to demonstrate how it was originally used. The upper levels include a jail and watchtowers.

 Al Wusta

The Rock Garden of Duqm has an amazing array of limestone and sandstone, balancing boulders, volcanic glass, and formations reminiscent of modern art sculptures.

At the Arabian Oryx Sanctuary, our production coordinator in Oman can tell you how they went from extinct in the wild to ‘vulnerable’. Capture the first calf of the season, almost impossible to see against the sand. If you have not had fresh camel milk, our location scouting can show you a nice Bedouin camp.

Nizwa is a city in Ad Dakhiliyah governorate in Northern Oman. Our production coordinator in Oman considers its fort an amazing example of old Omani architecture and how people lived in ancient times. Cannons flank its entrance, and it includes a date store and a jail, alongside several trap areas to defend against intruders. Nearby, Jebel Akhdar (The Green Mountain) has several fabulous viewing shelves.

Diana’s Point is named after the Princess, who famously visited it. From another elevation you can see into Wadi Nakher, Oman’s Grand Canyon, the second deepest in the world.

Have any of the above sparked your creative interest? If so, choose to explore it with Fixer Oman. If you are not convinced by these locations, do not worry. From bustling early morning livestock auctions to snow-white sand dunes with dolphins in the backdrop, we can find you a tailored location.
